Weekend in Borrowdale

Joining David’s 40th birthday weekend seemed like a good idea several months ago, but a little ambitious after a really busy few weeks. We managed to make it though, and had a great time despite the damp weather.

Farrow family gathering in Oban

Well, technically North Connel.

We also had a day’s sea kayaking from the Isle of Seil, but it was (much like the rest of the week) very wet and windy so we left our phones on the shore. We’re promised some photos from our guide so may do a future post about it when we’ve got those!

Pont de la Corde – Ile-de-Batz – Roscoff – Plymouth

Normal weather service resumed for the home strait, including all the ferries.

Pointe Primel to Pont de la Corde

Our first (and probably only) wet day. And not even that wet – dry for packing up, nice evening, and some of us managed without waterproofs all day. Back within striking distance of Roscoff as our friends depart tomorrow.

Ile-Grande – Kercoz – Pointe Primel

Two slightly cloudier and cooler days along the coast.

Plougrescant to Ile-Grande

Our longest and hottest day yet (around 46 km). Still found time for plenty of non-cycling.

La Roche Jaudy – Lanron – Plougrescant

Increasingly hot, and back to the coast. We were also joined by more friends, making us six adults, seven children aged 11 months to 5, one tandem, four adult bikes, three kids’ pedal bikes, two balance bikes, two double trailers, three follow-me tandems, two shotgun seats and innumerable luggage compartments!

Carantec – Saint Efflam – La Roche-Jaudy

Two warm and sunny days of mostly inland cycling.

Roscoff to Carantec

On our way to Roscoff

Ferry excited to be off on our first family cycle tour.
